For the most part my clients love to receive the CD of all their images, and who wouldn’t want this? I know I would! This is usually leaving the printing in the clients hands. This always worries me!! I would hate to see all the hard work I put into my images and for the clients time help creating these memories be compromised for a 19 cent print!
I get it, I understand times are tight. SO I’ve decided to educate you a little on what 10 more cents can do for you.
Walgreens. A WONDERFUL store for all things quick, easy and always fast! Thats just it, “fast” is the key word. When doing things fast quality is left out of the equation. Walgreens you can upload you images and then go pick up, well Walgreens printing area is a 15×15 corner of the store with a printer the size of my dishwasher. That should give you a sign… poor quality. I even tried to find the kind of paper they use and its not listed any where on their web site.
The ink, the paper all are a key factor in making a print a good quality print that will last a long time. Less room in the printer for ink colors = less color in your prints.
Have you ever looked at your pictures on your monitor and they look great! You print and the details in the eyes are gone and they color is dull?? BINGO!
The solution to where to print?
Mpix.com Mpix a public devision of a pro lab I use. This means, pro - paper, pro - ink, PRO - EQUIPMENT. The kind of printer that is the size of refrigerator! When you hire me to shoot your events, I don’t show up with a Kodak point and shoot camera do I? No, you want to hire someone who knows what their doing. Not some high school kid who needs gas money. Well you should think the same way when your picking your print lab.
Mpix is easy to use and the turn around time is very good. You go to the site, create an account, upload your images, order and walk away! It’s very easy and your not breaking the bank by ordering pictures for the whole family.
The price difference?
Not much at all!!
Walgreens 4×6 = .19 5×7 = 1.59 and 8×10 = 2.99
Mpix 4×6 = .29 5×7 = .99 and 8×10 = 1.99
With that being said, I hope this has brought some light into how just 10 more cents for your 4×6 can go a long way! You’ll be able to see your families eyes, instead of black dots.
Another print option is to go Canvas? When you say Canvas, some will automaticly think OH that old school looking picture that “looks” painted with big brush stokes and in a BIG gold frame. NOPE not anymore! Just like photography has come a long way in just a 5 short years, so has print products! The canvas print still has a hint of texture to it on a thicker fabric, but you also have the option of having the image wrapped around a 1.5″ wooden frame so it looks like an art box. No more funny fames, your picture is the art.
I had my family pictures done last May with the fabulous Lisa Kae and I too got the cd of all my images. Well I just finally had them printed and I went with Canvas. Canvas is more costly than a print. But when you factor in that I did not have to pay for them to be matted and framed, it all pretty much evens out.
Here are the examples of my wall.
The Delivery

The AWWWW

The wall before!

The wall after! The 4 little ones are 11×14 and the large family print is 20×30.

The close up of coolness!

Remember, QUALITY doesn’t always have to break the bank!
